Not too bad
This product is awesome when it works, which is most of the time. But it can be a bit finicky at times. If I hold the iPod with this attached to it in my hand it works 100% of the time. However, if I put it in any pocket, pants pocket or shirt pocket, it always cuts in and out. Mostly out. But, about 25% of the time it works okay in a pocket! Go figure. I have no idea why as it easily works from several feet away. But it seems if it's right next to your body the signal usually gets blocked.
However, on the upside, if you set it down on a table or counter it will usually work fine as you walk around the room (or drive your car). You can get up to about 15 feet away from it before service becomes a little sketchy. Sometimes it takes a bit for your headphones to pick up the signal and if they lose the signal at any point - it will go in and out for a bit until it picks it up again.
And one other thing... I thought this would be the ultimate replacement for wired headphones BUT, after using this for awhile I realized the wired headphones do have one advantage... they're only one part. iPod + wired head phones = 2 parts. iPod + this adapter + wireless headphones = 3 parts.
And believe me, having extra parts to keep up with becomes a hassle. Especially since you can't put the iPod with this attached to it in your pocket or in your iPod carrying case. You pretty much have to hold it in your hand when you're walking around. And, when you get where you're going you can't easily fold up a bluetooth head phone and put in your pocket either. So it's very cumbersome for guys who don't carry purses and have to rely on our pockets for everything.
All in all - while it's very nice to use when everything's working just right, there are a lot of things that have to come together to reach that Nirvanic state! With that said - wired headphones definitely are a hassle unto themselves and this does relieve those hassles. Just realize it will bring its own set of hassles.
For the life of me I can't understand why Apple doesn't build bluetooth into the ipod. If they did that - listening wirelessly would be awesome.
